Cake Fridge!

Don’t mind if I do!

What the what?! Hannah and I were watching the Shetland TV series and Jimmy Perez (the lead detective man) had to go pick up his father at “the cake fridge”, as if such a thing was no big deal. Well, it’s a big deal to me! I immediately looked them up on the internet and they are a real thing in Shetland. They have “honesty boxes” all over the place--where you can grab yourself a little cake or whatever to eat so that driving through the gloomy countryside where all kinds of complex murder mysteries are taking place is a little bit sweeter.

Please sir, can I have some more?

They have other types of boxes too, like “Veggie” boxes, but who cares about those?!

Hannah had been looking up job postings there for me, because she wants to move there or to Northumberland (Vera), and before the cake box discovery I wasn’t too sure about this plan she was cooking up, but now I think Shetland looks GREAT! Haha!

I think I’ll just sit here for a minute!

That’s all I’ve got this week. I’ll pass!

Here are a couple of links about this phenomenon, because of course Atlas Obscura beat me to it!
